What a fantastic evening!

The first "Care 2 Cure Krista Benefit" was a huge success! The sense of community and support that was present that night was overwhelming! We can all be grateful that we are part of such a giving and caring community. It truly was a night of fun we will not forget.

The success of this benefit would not have been possible without the tremendous amount of hard work and generosity of Krista and Mark's family and friends. Our corporate sponsors and live auction sponsors deserve a magnificent round of applause for their support. Many thanks to all who attended and donated to this memorable event. It is your generosity that made the evening such a success. Our gratitude is extended to all the volunteers who helped make the evening possible. It could not have been done without you.

Care to Cure

There is someone we all know. She is a beautiful wife, a devoted mother, a loyal sister, a helpful companion, a friendly neighbor and a cherished friend. And she needs our help.

As you may know, Krista Merten Kaelin was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in August 2005. Huntington’s Disease is a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder for which there is currently no effective treatment or cure. Current research is beginning to unravel the mysteries of the disease, but much more needs to be done before successful treatments become a reality.

Since her diagnosis, there has been a most incredible outpouring from friends, family and the community expressing the desire to help Krista, her husband, Mark, and their children, Alec (age 10) and Tyler (age 6), in any way possible. In light of this, a fundraiser is currently being planned to not only raise money to help fund continuing research, but to also establish a fund to help Krista and Mark with any current or future treatment options or research trials, both locally and nationally.

To help Krista and her family, and to help fund additional research, a benefit has been planned for Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Gardens of Park Hills. The event, known as Care 2 Cure Krista, will include delicious food, bottled beer, wine and soft drinks, silent/live auctions and raffles. With an expected attendance of 600 people, it is guaranteed to be a great reunion of friends and family. Tickets are $50.00 per person. For reservations click here.
